Getting Started: The Plan

Every project needs a plan and my plan was to buy a complete, solid, 1940 coupe that I could separate from the original chassis, get a new aftermarket chassis, install a modern drive train, install the body, re-do the wiring and drive it away. Later, I would do the interior and get a high-end paint job. I wanted to build a 40 coupe that would:

  • Retain the original look and personality of the car.
  • Have modern suspension, brakes, drive train and accessories
  • Be a safe and reliable drive-it-anywhere-anytime car

I also was ready for a new project, so I was prepared to do most of the mechanical work myself.
