Body Repairs

After disassembling and stripping the car, it was clear that the body not only had major rust damage, it had been subjected to some of the worst bodywork imaginable. Repairing extensive rust damage is not easy, but I think reworking poorly done bodywork is much more difficult because reference points are usually lost. For example, when the wheel wells were replaced on this car, the correct locations for the fender mounting bolts were lost. Without those, the body had to be repaired to fit the fender, instead of fitting the fender to the body.

This section of the site is organized by body part. Each of the links on the left will take you to a section that contains the following:

  • Before: Photos of the original part to be replaced
  • During: Narrative and photos of the remove and replace procedure I used
  • After: Photos of the completed repair
  • If a patch panel was used, the source(s) for the part
