Body Repairs: Trunk Floor Apparently, the trunk floor had been replaced at one time but whoever did the job didn't know about corrosion prevention, so it was rusted out like the rest of the floors.

Trunk Floor Removal
The trunk floor supports the rear half of the car. Before cutting the floor away from the wheel wells, I welded in some temporary braces made from 5/8 inch square tubing. |

Installation
The trunk floor kit consists of 7 components: A seat riser, a panel that follows the contours of the chassis kick up, a flat section that over laps the tool tray, a stiffener that spans the chassis and two pieces of 16 gauge angle that are formed to match the chassis kick up. Before installing the kit, I cleaned the parts with DX 579 and primed them with DP 40. |

| The first step was to install the seat riser. The seat riser fits over the rear body mount and had to be drilled for body bolts. Once the seat riser was installed, the next step was to install the stiffener assembly. The photo below shows the stiffener assembly installed and the two angle braces that are welded to the rocker panel sub-rails. | |||

| The next step was to install the curved part of the trunk floor and the part of the floor that gets welded to the tool tray. Once the floor was in, I welded in the bracing that would hold up the rear of the car while I worked on the wheel wells. | |||
